West Midlands

Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire is perhaps a must visit if you are travelling to the West Midlands. The town is synonymous with William Shakespeare and many visitors flock each year to re-trace his life in the market town. You can even visit the building that he grew up in as a boy.

Warwick Castle is a must-see whilst visiting Warwickshire.  The medieval castle was originally built by William the Conqueror during 1068 and was rebuilt in stone during the 12th century. The impressive castle is set upon 64 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens.  Visitors can wander along the banks of the River Avon and explore the Victorian rose garden. Inside the castle, visitors can explore all the different rooms and sections of the castle, which have been ornately decorated and feature life-like wax work figures in each of the rooms.  A day out at Warwick Castle is truly an immersive experience.

If you are looking for more of a country escape, head to Herefordshire which is home to the Malvern Hills – An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the River Wye. The county is a popular place for walkers and cyclists to visit as there are plenty of walks ranging from circular walks across the county including in Capler and Shobdon, and long distance walks such as The Wye Valley Walk and the Mortimer Trail.
