East of England

Top visitor attractions in the East of England include the historic city of Cambridge and Constable Country on the Essex/Suffolk border. Cambridge is world renowned for its university and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Spend the day punting along the river or take a guided tour of the university including the architecturally stunning King’s College.

Constable Country has been immortalised in John Constable’s paintings and today many visitors flock to the Dedham Vale to stroll through the magnificent countryside. The National Trust offers guided tours from Flatford where you will visit the same spots as Constable’s paintings depicted.

For those looking to visit the coast, Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk have some wonderful beaches. Southwold is a small seaside town on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, which is surrounded by the North Sea to the East nd the River Blyth and Southwold Harbour to the South-West.  The quintessential English seaside town is dotted with little beach huts that stretch along the seafront and an award winning pier.

The East of England is also home to not just beautiful countryside but magnificent coastline and beaches. The Norfolk Coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and over 450km² of coastline is protected. The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coastal Path National Trail pass through the coastline so the area is a must visit for many walkers. If you are with the family and just want to relax, Essex has plenty of family friendly beaches from Frinton-on-the-Sea to Walton-on-the-Naze.
